Schaeffler has launched its range of so-called FAG PowerTherm heaters for bearings and ring-shaped metal components, "easing mounting work, improving safety and avoiding contamination during the heating of work pieces up to 3,000kg in weight," it said.

When maintaining cranes, hoists or lifting gear, an engineer may have a large bearing or other ring-shaped metal component that needs mounting onto a shaft. The heaters쟣acilitate and speed up쟴his mounting work쟞nd ensure the life of the bearing is what it should be. Incorrect fitted bearings can result in big problems and shorter service life.

The company also offers special induction heating devices for work pieces weighing more than 3,000kg, which are matched to the individual customer's power requirements and dimensions.

Harmful temperature differences are prevented with uniform heating but non-metallic parts, and the device itself, remain cool.
