Motion Industries of Birmingham, Ala., has completed the acquisition of Gerrish Bearing Co. Gerrish Bearing has two locations in Washington: Seattle and Tacoma. The company distributes bearings, power transmission and industrial products.

“The acquisition of Gerrish Bearing Co. will allow Motion Industries to continue our penetration of the market with bearings and power transmission products as well as industrial products throughout the area,” says Bill Stevens, president and CEO.

The acquisition is part of the company’s overall strategy for growth. Stevens said in an article in the July 2007 issue of Industrial Distribution magazine that this plan consists of selling additional products to existing customers, adding new products and growing through acquisition.

Andy Johnson and Mark Johnson, previous owners of Gerrish Bearing will continue to manage the locations in Washington.

With 2006 sales of $3.1 billion, Motion Industries is ranked six on Industrial Distribution’s annual Big 50 list of the largest industrial distributors.
