Bearings manufacturer Kingsbury breaks ground on new plant in California

 

 

Turbine bearings manufacturer Kingsbury Inc. has broken ground on a new 33,000-square-foot repair and service facility in Yuba City, Calif., the Philadelphia-based company announced today.

Kingsbury opened a repair and service shop in Yuba City in 2006 due to its proximity to a number of hydropower projects, steam and gas plants in the western United States and Canada.

 

 

The company said its success led to the decision to construct its own purpose-built facility for the repair and field service of all types of fluid-film babbitted bearings.

 

 

"The multimillion dollar facility will house cutting-edge equipment, incorporate infrastructure to support a 30-ton crane, and will be climate-controlled to facilitate the extremely tight tolerance machining required for the company's products," Kingsbury said.

 

 

The new plant will provide support for all of Kingsbury's clients west of the Mississippi River, including all dams and pumping stations operated by the California Department of Water Resources.

 

 

Other services offered by the Yuba City location include diagnostic and repair work, babbitting foundry work, precision machining, and upgrades and retrofits for fluid-film bearings and associated equipment.
